Customised Ties for Different Organisations
Tuesday 12th July 2011

The coat and tie are considered protocol for those who wish to represent their organisation in the business world. So where did they come from?
The traditional necktie has military roots – once descended from the neckerchiefs worn by Croatian mercenaries in the employment of King Louis XIII of France. This unusual piece of patterned cloth sparked some curiosity throughout French society, and became a highly popular item as a result. The shape and size of the tie changed and evolved with the times, producing the bowtie and other adornments along the way.
The modern tie, much like its military roots, is more often used as part of a uniform. To compliment your suit, learn to tie a full Windsor knot. The full Windsor tie knot makes for a ‘fuller’ tie knot that is often used for fashion and business dress. Small knots can have the opposite effect, and can make the tie look like a school or boarding house tie, making the wearer of the tie look immature. However, you should take note that making this type of tie knot requires some practice to achieve the proper finished lengths.
When it comes to customised ties, the right width is important. Wider ties are generally associated with conservative origins and are traditionally business and formal orientated. Narrow ties are often used in a fashion context, and can cycle between 5cm to 8cm. Co-ordinate your tie according to the context in which you will be wearing it. As always, ensure the length of your tie ends just over your belt.
Colour in customized ties is a complicated issue. Traditionally, red and burgundy colours are often used among older, more conservative institutions. Blue, light blue or dark blue customised ties are commonly used to represent public service organizations or private enterprise. Formal events often incorporate vibrant, light colours such as silver and pastels. If you choose multi-coloured customised ties to set yourself apart from the crowd and express personality, then be sure to wear it with confidence.
There are numerous styles, patterns and colour combinations when it comes to creating ties. First and foremost, a custom tie should make you feel comfortable and adequately represent the image of your organization.
